The Logitech M585 is a good computer mouse, but too small. It’s 1.6” tall, 2.5” wide, and 4” long. It’s too short for me. I have to use my fingertips. It does fill the palm well, but it stops short in back. It has a nicely rounded rear end, though.
It has an excellent flare on the left side for your thumb, so you know right where to place it. And a curve on the right side for your ring and pinkie finger to wrap around.
But, the scroll wheel is very smooth, just barely having ridges at all, which I don’t like. It’s hard to scroll precisely, because it spins so freely. And the scroll wheel is loose, so it can be wiggled without activating the scroll, which feels imprecise. It’s also very easy to activate the scroll when tilting the scroll wheel right or left. That’s a special click—tilting the wheel left or right.
This really feels like a fingertip mouse because it’s so short. It might be perfect for someone with smaller hands. It has many very easy-to-use customization features with the Logitech Options software. It lets you remap any of seven buttons to hundreds of available commands and keystrokes.
This mouse has a left click, right click, middle/scroll straight down click, forward, backward, and scroll tilt left click, scroll tilt right click. All of which are customizable to any command with the Logitech Options software.
I set my forward button to [Ctrl + C] and my back button to [Ctrl + V], and I’ve found that very useful.
This is also a “multi-device” mouse. That is, it can connect to a computer via dongle, or Bluetooth, and can switch between the two at the press of a button. Although, I didn’t find it as easy to use as they claim. It took a minute for it to reconnect to each PC, it wasn’t seamless. Although, I did not install its special “Flow” plug-in to the Logitech Options software, made specifically for this mouse, which might have made it smoother.
Altogether a great mouse for small hands. $40 on Amazon
